III. Outreach Initiatives

 

Name of Outreach Activity

Description of Activity

1

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Each year during the applicable period, students participated in the internship program by working in the News Department, the Promotion Department, and the Sales Department. The schools that these students attend(ed) are Baylor University, Washington State University, and McMurry University. Interns in the News Department developed news writing skills, learned to develop news story packages, and video editing. The student in the Promotion Department learn the basics of television advertising, editing, and internet design. In the Sales Department, they developed networking skills, client prospecting, and sales closing skills.

JOB FAIR

Each year during the applicable period, the Stations participated in the West Central Texas Career Job Fair. The Promotion Manager and one of the Production managers attended this job fair. The station had a booth set up, and a listing of all open positions were posted and handed out along with Employment Applications. Resumes were accepted.
