The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is just 27 words long.
But what those words mean to gun owners and gun control advocates has been debated for more than two centuries.
Recent landmark decisions from the Supreme Court seem to clarify the Second Amendment, defining the constitutional role of guns in America.
