A 64-year-old Abilene man died in a traffic accident Monday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car.
Kenneth Horton was traveling east on Highway 351 when a white car traveling south on East Lake Road apparently failed to yield right-of-way and pulled onto Highway 351 in front of the motorcycle, Abilene Police Sgt. Richard Waggoner said.
The motorcycle hit the car, a 2004 white Toyota Corolla, on its passenger side.
Police said that it was apparent that Horton attempted to stop his motorcycle just before it hit the car. He was wearing a helmet.
Horton was transported to Hendrick Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace A.L. Deatherage, Waggoner said.
There was no indication alcohol was a factor in the crash, although blood samples were taken from the vehicle's driver, Waggoner said.
The driver of the car, Lisa Roberson, 50, of Abilene, was not injured.
