The Miami Herald announced it was again endorsing President Barack Obama on Friday, although it chastised both candidates for being "big on rhetoric and stingy on details."

While the newspaper's praise of Obama was couched, it cited his handling of the economy, health reform, and foreign policy.

"No one's happy with the pace of the recovery, but the president deserves credit for starting to turn the economy around," the Herald Editorial read. It is one of the Sunshine State's larger papers.

The newspaper endorsed Obama in 2008 as well.

Romney also has strengths, the paper said -- including his own health reform plan and handling of a budget deficit, both from when he was governor of Massachusetts.

But Romney tacked right to win the GOP primaries, it said.

"Goodbye, Mr. Moderate. Hello, Mr. Severe Conservative," it read.

The paper also said it was "perplexing" that Obama had not campaigned encouraging voters to send to Washington "a more reasonable Congress."

"Whether he gets one or not, if he's reelected he must summon the skills necessary to persuade lawmakers to meet him halfway. That's the kind of leader Americans want in the White House," the paper opined.

The Herald's endorsement comes amid a flurry of endorsements for both Obama and Romney from papers in a number of swing states.

Florida's largest newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times, cast its endorsement for Obama last Friday.
