Paul Ryan makes case for Romney in Iowa op-ed

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's running mate Rep. Paul Ryan urged Iowan's to choose between two starkly different futures in an op-ed in the Des Moines Register.

Making the case for his running mate, Ryan wrote in the op-ed published Saturday that, "Another four years of anemic economic growth, of ever-higher debt and deficits, would guarantee a diminished future for our children."

"On Nov. 7, Iowa can wake up facing four more years like the last four years - or we can be well on our way back to prosperity, opportunity, and economic growth," wrote Ryan. "We hope to have your support, and we are asking for your vote. Together, we can get this done."

Ryan added that while Obama has doubled down on the failed policies of his first term, Romney "offers real change and real reforms for a real recovery."

The Republican ticket "will not duck the hard issues," Ryan wrote highlighting a number of campaign promises from utilizing energy resources to balancing the nation's budget.

"We will not make excuses. We will not kick the can down the road. From Day One, we will lead. We will not spend the next four years blaming others; we will take responsibility and clean up the mess in Washington."

The Des Moines Register announced a surprising endorsement of Romney in late October; marking the first time in 40 years Iowa's largest paper backed a Republican presidential candidate.

Ryan was scheduled to campaign in Ohio, Minnesota and Colorado on Sunday and will stump in the battleground states of Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio and his home state of Wisconsin on Monday.
