Mari Cockerell is happy to be back in the Big Country anchoring KTXS This Morning.
She first came to Abilene in 2003, serving as KTXS 6 and 10 p.m. co-anchor (then Mari Hayes). Mari left KTXS in 2005 to accept the evening anchor job at KTSM, the NBC affiliate in El Paso. After three years in far West Texas, Mari moved to Austin to work as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KVUE-TV.
It was during Mari's first stint in Abilene that she met her husband, Chris, who is an Abilene native.
Mari says she and her husband are excited to be back close to friends and family. In March of 2012, they welcomed their first child, a boy named Cash. He and their bulldog, Betty, are buddies.
Mari serves on the board of the Day Nursery of Abilene, and is a 2010 graduate of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Abilene. Mari loves to quilt and is a member of the Abilene Quilter’s Guild. Mari is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Mari has also been licensed in the sale of securities and real estate in the state of Texas.
