Hayden Nix joined the KTXS Storm Alert weather team in August of 2014. You can watch his weather forecast on KTXS News This Morning.
This is Hayden's first job in meteorology and broadcasting. Hayden was born and raised in the small town of Kingsland, Arkansas. It is also the birthplace of the late famous singer, Johnny Cash.
Weather has interested Hayden since the age of seven when he experienced severe weather for the first time. Damaging winds toppled trees which damaged his home and property. For a while, he was terrified of weather. He always watched the local television station, KATV Channel 7, when dark clouds formed in the sky. That fear slowly turned into an obsession with weather and wanting to know more about how it worked. By 12, he had decided that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of those whom he had watched on TV growing up. He wanted to be an on-air broadcast meteorologist.
Hayden received a bachelor's of science degree in meteorology with a minor in communications from Mississippi State University. While attending Mississippi State, he interned for two years at KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock, Arkansas with meteorologist Todd Yakoubian to help further his studies. He is a continuing member of The American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
During his free time, Hayden enjoys time outdoors by cycling or running. He also likes to expand his knowledge on the latest computer technology. As a Mississippi State alum, he continues to root for his Bulldogs and enjoys watching the football, basketball, and baseball games.
