Melissa Valdez is a meteorologist at KTXS News. She joined the KTXS news team in August of 2015.
She is the meteorologist for KTXS This Morning. She came to work for KTXS from Houston.
While growing up, Melissa was fascinated and terrified by the weather. Being a Houston native she experienced all kinds of severe weather phenomena. In 2008, when Hurricane Ike hit her hometown, Melissa decided that meteorology was her calling and quickly pursued the field with passion.
Melissa received a BS in meteorology from Texas A&M University. She minored in oceanography. During her time there she was deeply involved in the storm chasing club, H.A.M. Radio operations, TAMSCAMS, tropical research and weather balloon launching. She also attained internships/volunteership with KPRC in Houston and the NWS of Houston/ Galveston.
During her free time Melissa considers herself a bit of a bookworm. She likes to read, paint, dance and do yoga. As always she is a devoted Texas Aggie alum who still stands and yells for her favorite football team.
