18-wheeler carrying sand flips on I-20 near Putnam exit, hangs off bridge (7 photos)

An 18-wheeler traveling from Fort Worth and carrying sand on I-20 westbound just past the Putnam exit flipped Friday morning.

While there were no major injuries, one individual was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the 18-wheeler said he fell asleep before hitting the guardrail and flipping it on its side, its trailer hanging over the bridge.

Texas Department of Transportation crews assisted the Department of Public Safety in cleaning up the accident. Traffic was detoured off on I-20 at the Putnam exit as crews cleaned up the site.
