Business Expo 2013: Abilene businesses put their best foot forward
This year's "Team Abilene" theme wants to show residents how the city can grow when business and their customers work together.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 27, more than 200 businesses and vendors will fill the Abilene Civic Center.
Abilene's Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, and sought to draw in community members.
"It's just a way for the Abilene Community to come out, see what kind of businesses we do have in Abilene," says Wesley Smith, the expo's co-chair.
In addition to door prizes, marketing was in full force. Reusable grocery bags, pens, calendars, and notepads wore company logos and were free for visitors.
But it's not just the free stuff that keeps people coming back. "We come every year, it's a good way for us to see what's out there, who's here, and then we meet a lot of interesting people" says Carrie Hernandez, an expo visitor.
The Chamber of Commerce estimates that close to 10,000 people will come out to the expo this year.
