Playing at 200 beats-per-minute is not easy task, but the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy Band is famous for it.

That's not the only reason the band earned the title "World-Famous." According to HSU, the band earned the title during a European trip, according to the book The World Famous Cowboy Band 1923-1973. The book was published in 1983 by Dorothy May McClure, wife of the band’s longest-running director, Marion B. McClure, details the history and the travels of the band.

Membership in the band ranges from 35 to 55 people and about 40 percent are women. They perform about 30 to 40 times each year including at parades and rodeos. They also play at the University's basketball and football games.

This concert kicked off their anniversary celebrations. They also hosted a banquet Saturday evening at the HSU Johnson building.
