A 10-year-old girl has survived being struck by a vehicle and thrown approximately 43 feet from the point of impact, police said. The accident occurred late Friday in San Angelo.
A 2011 Jeep Wrangler reportedly hit the child near the intersection of West Beauregard and Sherwood Way, a San Angelo Police news release said. Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian being struck at approximately 8:15 p.m. Friday.
The child was treated on scene by San Angelo Fire Department personnel and then transported to Shannon Medical Center, where she received treatment for non-life threatening Injuries, the release said.
She reportedly had been playing with friends when she attempted to cross West Beauregard from the street?s south side. According to police, witnesses said the Jeep was traveling eastbound on West Beauregard when the child ran out into traffic. It was estimated the child was thrown approximately 43 feet from the point of impact.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep were not injured as a result of the crash, police said.
