13th annual Brownwood Reunion prepares to kick-off festival Friday
It's the biggest event of the year in Brownwood.
The 13th annual Brownwood Reunion starts on Friday but committee members were busy taking care of last minute preparations the day before. Carnival rides are up in front of the Brownwood Coliseum and the concert stage has been set.
The event's executive director, Kim Peterson, said she is excited to see everything come together. She said the most rewarding part is seeing the smiles on people's faces and the positive feedback from the community and sponsors. "That's what makes it worth all of those late hours and sleepless nights," Peterson said.
This is Peterson's third year being in charge of the Brownwood Reunion.
"I love my job. This is by far one of my favorite jobs, so I don't lose the excitement because the committee, volunteers and community keep it going."
Peterson said the show will go on despite rainy forecasts, just like it has in the past. "We have things backstage and ready and prepared in case it does rain. You know if the show's delayed a little bit, it's okay. We still go on."
Peterson said she had help putting on this event from about 60 committee members and as many as 2,000 volunteers. She also said she couldn't have done it without the sponsors.
