(AP) - Corpus Christi police are accusing two men of being connected to the shooting deaths of two young girls killed during a family birthday party.
The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports (http://bit.ly/1i1PqnZ) that police arrested 26-year-old Brendon Gaytan and 22-year-old Cruz Salazar early Friday in connection with the murders of 6-year-old Nevaeh Oliva and 2-year-old LillyAnna Valent. The two men remained Saturday in the Nueces County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail each. It was unclear whether they had an attorney.
Two women have also been charged with tampering with evidence.
Family members of the two young girls say they were celebrating the birthday of LillyAnna's 1-year-old brother on Feb. 16 and were about to cut the cake when bullets were fired into the home. Several bullets struck LillyAnna and Nevaeh.
