(AP) - Police in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton say two men have drowned in a retention pond after one of the victims tried to rescue the other.
Carrollton police say the two men were fishing from the bank of the pond Saturday night with several other relatives when one of the victims got into the water but was unable to swim to safety.
Francisco Najar and Hector Rodrigues, both 30-year-olds who lived in Dallas, were taken by paramedics to local hospitals where they were pronounced dead.
