Alcohol containers found in 5-fatality Texas wreck that killed ex-ACU student
Authorities have found empty alcohol containers amid the wreckage of a car in an accident that killed five cast and crew members of the musical drama "Texas."
Department of Public Safety spokesman Christopher Ray said Wednesday he didn't know if the containers were beer cans or liquor bottles or where specifically they were located.
Former Abilene Christian University student Clint Diaz was among those killed in the crash. He driving the vehicle that included members of the musical.
DPS has said alcohol is suspected as a factor in Monday night's crash when a car carrying six people ran a stop sign and collided with an 18-wheeler near Dumas.
A spokesman for an Amarillo hospital said Wednesday that Timothy Johnson of Houston, the only survivor from the car, remained in critical condition. The truck driver was stable.
Organizers canceled Wednesday performance. The show continues Thursday through Sunday to end the season.
The two survivors of a two-vehicle Texas Panhandle traffic accident that killed five members of summer musical production are still in the hospital.
A spokesman for Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo says Timothy Johnson of Houston remained in critical condition Wednesday.
The actor was riding in a car carrying six members of the musical "Texas" that was in a wreck late Monday near Dumas. The other five people were killed, including former Abilene Christian University student Clint Diaz.
Authorities have said alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the auto accident deaths.
The driver of the 18-wheeler that hit the car, Theron Arthur McSay of Fort Collins, Colo., remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The Department of Public Safety said the car pulled in front of the truck.
Organizers of the musical canceled performances Tuesday and Wednesday. Shows are scheduled Thursday, Friday and Saturday to wrap up the 2013 season.
