LUBBOCK, Texas -

Officer Cody Kidd was responding to a non-emergency report of a suspicious person when he collided with 20-year-old Morgan Lee's car in the west-bound access road of North Loop 289 and the Clovis Highway in Lubbock.

That's according to a press release by the Lubbock Police Department.

The 20-year-old Wylie graduate was pronounced dead at University Medical Center in Lubbock late Wednesday night. Officer Kidd was treated and released from UMC and is on injury leave status.

The investigation into the accident is continuing and will be presented to the Lubbock PD's Accident Review Board and a grand jury.

It is still unclear who was at fault.
