POSTED: 6:08 pm CDT August 25, 2010UPDATED: 4:52 pm CDT August 26, 2010ABILENE, Texas -- Officials at Hendrick Medical Center are already seeing people with the flu walk through their doors, but they say there aren't many cases.
They're also urging you to be careful, as a new flu strain could start infecting people.
The Centers for Disease Control says the H3N2 virus is a mix of the H1N1 flu strain plus the Bird Flu. CDC spokesman Jeff Dimond said plenty of vaccine is available for the H3N2 flu virus this year, and he encouraged people to take advantage and be vaccinated.
Last year, residents swamped doctors offices and clinics around the Abilene area, hoping to get vaccinated from the Swine Flu.
