More Travelers Expected This Labor Day Weekend

Drivers Say I-20 Relatively Clear

Drivers across Texas are taking advantage of a long holiday weekend and hitting the roads early.

AAA expects a ten percent jump in travelers, most of whom will drive to their weekend destination.

And it may cost you more to travel depending where you fill up gas. Since this time last year, the price of gas has gone up 7 cents, compared to the national average.

Along I-20 near Abilene, KTXS found several drivers who say the stretch of interstate has been pretty tame for most of Friday.

"Traffic's been ok. A little heavy in places, but they're doing what they ought to do mostly," said one driver.

Another traveler said navigating the highways have been, "Pretty good. Hasn't been busy or anything."

This is also a No Refusal weekend in Abilene. If police pull you over for suspicion of drunk driving and you refuse a breathalyzer test, officers can immediately get a warrant for a sample of your blood.

Abilene Police say they will also have more officers on DWI patrol.
