An Abilene man was found guilty Wednesday afternoon in the injury of a child – the 2-year-old son of his fiance.

Christopher Galindo was found guilty about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday in Abilene, and the court immediately began the sentencing phase of the trial, which will not conclude until Thursday when an out-of-town witness can appear.

The jury found Galindo guilty of three charges: one count of first-degree felony injury to a child and two third-degree counts of injury to a child.

Investigators said Galindo injured the child by throwing him down stairs, but Galindo said it was an accident.

However, when the boy was taken to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, medical staff found evidence of previous injuries to the child.
