FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -

Emergency officials say five people have been slightly hurt in a North Texas apartment complex fire where some victims jumped from the second story to escape.

The Fort Worth Fire Department says the blaze broke out before dawn Wednesday and was brought under control after about an hour. Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire at the La Jolla Terrace Apartments.

MedStar EMS spokesman Matt Zavadsky said  four adults suffered minor injuries while evacuating, including two who jumped from the second story. All were taken to hospitals to be checked out.

Zavadsky said a fifth person, a woman, later approached an ambulance at the scene for treatment of a minor burn.
