The Abilene Fire Department confirms fireworks are what caused the fire at an abandoned motel late Sunday night.

Fire crews responded to the fire at the old motel building on Highway 80 at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

According to fire officials, before the fire was called in, multiple callers reported seeing  fireworks in the area. After the fire was put out, officials discovered fireworks in the area.

No injuries were reported.
