Abilene Breaks Another Record: Highest Overnight Low Temperature
Abilene broke an all-time low temperature record over the weekend.
The low temperature of 84 degrees Saturday morning was the warmest low temperature ever recorded in Abilene. It beat the previous record of 83 degrees ? set back on Aug. 11, 1964.
For months now, Abilene has seen its fair share of triple digit heat days. In fact, Sunday marked the 32nd day of triple digit heat this year ? and the heat continues marching toward the record of 43 days of triple digit heat in a single year.
Abilene has seen high temperature records broken as early as May of this year, as the mercury rose to 109 degrees on May 28. This marked the highest May temperature ever for the city.
Abilene's all-time high temperature record stands at 111.
No records are expected to be set Monday with a high predicted in the upper 90s before an expected return to triple digits by the middle of the week.
