The Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau kicked off their "Abilene is very, very Pinterest-ing!" contest on Aug. 1.

To participate, you must first "follow" Abilene CVB on the social networking website Pinterest. They have created a special board called "Abilene is very, very Pinterest-ing!" You can then repin the items on the board to your own Pinterest page. From those repined photos, the ACVB will select a random winner for each pin on Sept. 4.

"We are very excited to be on the forefront of this social platform with our own Pinterest contest," said Trish Dressen, communication director for the ACVB.

The pins consist of pictures and descriptions of the prizes offered. They include exclusive Abilene prizes and experiences, such as an Abilene Zoo membership, a Perini's Steakhouse gift bundle, and an Abilene mini-vacation. The Abilene mini-vacation comes with a one night stay at the Residence Inn by Marriot.

"We feel that utilizing this social media platform further engages and excites potential visitors and locals alike, but also provides a way to broaden our audience," Dressen said. "We think people will find our prizes and Abilene very, very Pinterest-ing!"
