Cook Children's Hospital confirms that 12-year-old Zachary McDaniel, who was shot in the head August 6, was moved from their facility Tuesday afternoon.
"We received word from Cook’s that they were going to attempt to move Zach to hospice. " Detective Eric Vickers with the Abilene Police Department said Tuesday.
A Cook Children's spokeswoman told KTXS Wednesday that McDaniel was moved from the hospital Tuesday afternoon. However, she could not disclose where he was moved to and could only tell KTXS he has been moved to a medical facility that is not associated with Cook Children's.
According to police, McDaniel was in the backseat of a car that was fleeing the scene of a drug deal on North 9th Street when he was shot. An 8-year-old boy who was also in the car was injured.
Christopher Mack, 21, was arrested August 7 on two counts of first degree felony injury to a child.
