Abilene Police and Crime Stoppers have a new alert system to keep residents informed about major events such as crime, fugitives, Amber Alerts and other emergencies.
It's called TipSoft Alert.
When residents sign up for the service, they can receive text or email alerts.
They will also be able to respond anonymously to alerts.
"We're going to be also if necessary, show an image of somebody during the course of a serious crime or emergency," said Officer George Spindler with APD. "Anything that helps inform the community about what's going on with a particular alert or a particular crime that may be happening in your neighborhood and that we may need their assistance."
