ABILENE, Texas -

A high increase in the number of animals being surrendered at the Abilene Animal Shelter and Rescue the Animals have made both facilities full.

Both shelters are now offering 50 percent off or more. The city of Abilene is cutting prices and Rescue the Animals is offering a $20 mail-in spay/neuter rebate on all dogs and cats.

At the Abilene Animal Shelter, dogs that normally have an $80 adoption fee are now $40. Cats that were $70 are now $30.

At the SPCA's Rescue The Animals, most dogs will be $75 because more vet work has been done. Some dogs will be available for as low as $40. Cats are normally $100, but will be $30, vet work included.

The Abilene Animal Shelter is located at 925 S. 25th St. in Abilene. They are open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
