A city crew doing some construction in the 3000 block of North 6th Street in Abilene struck a 4-inch gas line about 2 p.m. Monday.
The Abilene Fire Department was on the scene in minutes and kept people away from the area while repairs were made to the line.
Because of the wind direction it was decided that no evacuations were needed.
An Atmos Energy crew repaired the 1/2 inch hole in the line.
No one was injured.
