Abilene detectives search yard for crime clues based on a tip
Abilene police spent part of Friday afternoon searching an area around a home near South 14 and Poplar.
Assistant Police Chief Mike Perry tells us that detectives were working a tip they received on an old case...information about some evidence possibly buried at this location. Police are not telling us what case this deals with.
Detectives were at the location part of the afternoon digging around and using metal detectors looking for something.
Perry says detectives do not have high confidence in the tip...but they felt like they needed to be diligent and search the area.
Detectives wrapped up their search shortly after 5 p.m. and didn't appear to find anything.
