An Abilene man slated to be retried this week on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child pleaded guilty Monday to a lesser charge of injury to a child.

Mark Aldrete, 42, who was tried in March for the aggravated sexual assault of a six-year-old girl who he allegedly assaulted in 2007, received 10 years deferred probation.

In March, the Taylor County jury deliberated for more than 10 hours but was unable to reach a decision. The judge declared a mistrial.

Witness testimony in the new case had been set to begin Tuesday.
