Abilene men arrested after police find stolen car
Two Abilene men were arrested Saturday after police discovered one of them allegedly stole a vehicle.
According to arrest reports, officers stopped 18-year-old Casey Beabout on South 1st Street for a traffic violation around 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
Officers said they realized the car had been stolen after running its license plate and Beabout admitted to taking the car without the owner’s consent. He is charged with motor vehicle theft.
Curtis Mayhugh, 33, was called to the scene because his 2-year-old child was in the car. Officers checked his information and realized he had warrants out for his arrest on traffic violations.
As of Sunday, both remain in the Taylor County Jail.
