An Abilene man takes warning speeding drivers into his own hands.
Drivers have been zooming off the highway and onto Danville road for years.
Now, something is finally being done to warn speeders to tap the breaks.
Two simple words: Slow Down.
That's all the sign says that's been placed just to the right of the access road in hopes that drivers will lay off the gas and be more careful.
A homeowner just off of Danville said that he knows the man who placed the sign there. He said that man is trying to protect his grandchildren and neighbors that often play in their backyards.
For some homeowners, it's only about 8 feet from the edge of the road to their backyard fence . Homeowner James Aneff has experienced multiple wrecks in his own front yard from speeders coming off the highway.
"There have been over twelve wrecks... two of them in the past spring." Anuff said.
The metal fence in Anuff's yard has protected his home thus far, but he said that there is one fundamental action we can take to decrease the problem.
"People do need to slow down."
