Abilene woman dies after she exits moving vehicle on freeway
A woman died after she was found on the highway early Saturday morning, according to the Abilene Police Dept.
Crystal Holman, 35, was found unconscious on the shoulder of the highway in the 800 block of Loop 322 in serious condition.
According to a preliminary investigation, the driver, Shannon Norton-Bartell, 42, of Abilene was driving a white 2003 Ford pickup truck southbound on Loop 322. Holman was the only passenger in the vehicle.
The investigation revealed that the two females were involved in a verbal altercation prior to Holman's exit from the moving vehicle.
The speed of the truck at the time of the accident is unknown, but it is suspected to have been traveling around 55 mph.
Norton-Bartell stopped her vehicle once she realized what had occurred and returned immediately to locate Holman.
Holman was taken by ambulance to Hendrick Medical Center and was pronounced dead about one hour after being transported.
This investigation into the incident is ongoing.
