An Abilene woman received a 12-year prison sentence for embezzling more than $500,000 from a local business.

Heather Smith was arrested last August for embezzling the money from Abilene Diagnostic Clinic. Smith worked as the office manager for the company.

Tuesday, 42nd District Court Judge John Weeks sentenced Smith to prison for the crime.
