A 49-year-old Abilene man who was shot and killed by Abilene police last week died from ‘high velocity gunshot wounds to the chest, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined.

Police said Miguel Martinez was shot and killed after they responded to a disturbance call at his house on North 17th Street, they found him in a shed in the backyard and he pointed a gun at them. Officers said they returned fire, hitting Martinez multiple times in the chest.

The two officers involved in the shooting have been on administrative leave.
