Brown County Emergency Preparedness Fair educates community
Emergency teams in Brown County want the public to know they are ready.
September is National Preparedness Month, and the county wants to inform the public about everything Brown County has to offer if an emergency should happen.
Emergency Coordinator Jodie Armstrong said Brown County is lucky to have so many organizations that are able to help out.
"Through grant monies in the last five years we have been able to obtain a communication trailer, a medical trailer; The Salvation Army now has a new canteen, I mean it's amazing," said Armstrong.
Brown County has it's own volunteer emergency response team called CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team.
Waymon Childress has been a volunteer for CERT for nine years.
"All of us here hope that none of us will ever have to do anything, because there won't be a disaster where we'll be called in, but it's nice to know that if things do fall apart we've got people ready to cover the bases," said Childress.
The organizers want to encourage citizens to be informed and prepared for emergencies.
