A child placing agency in Brownwood has teamed up with some local businesses to make sure kids have a Merry Christmas.

A World For Children is reaching out to the community to make sure that 250 kids experience Christmas.

So far, they've raised $800, but they could use much more.

"Every year for Christmas we throw a large, grandiose Christmas party for our kids, because many of our kids that come into care have never even had a Christmas," said Lori Konogeris, Case Manager.

The child placing agency has started an angel tree, located in their office, to get the community involved.

"The public has an opportunity to either sponsor a child for $25, or a lot of people rather giving money, like to be hand on and more interactive in their donations so we go around and personally sit with every child in our agency and get them to create a wish list," said Konogeris.

Those who donate or buy a child a present, get an angel or ornament from the angel tree.

Local businesses are also getting involved.

"On November 19, Chick-fil-A is actually doing A World For Children night for us from 5 to 8, and what they are going to do is donate a part of their proceeds to A World For Children to help us buy our gifts for our kids," said Hailey Hohertz, Case Manager.

"LeAp N LizRd Nutrition has offered to help us out. They're going to donate all of their proceeds that day, on November 19, to A World For Children to help us out with Christmas for our kids," said Lori St. Ama, Clinical Director.

Last year A World For Children raised $30,000 for gifts for the kids.
