O.C. "Putter" Jarvis was presented the Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America Texas Trails Council on Tuesday night.

Jarvis graduated from Brownwood High School in 1949 and has served the Brownwood community for most of his life.

Jarvis has been involved with the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, the Brown County Youth Fair, and has served as a member of the Brownwood City Council, among many others.

Mayor Stephen Haynes declared Aug. 14 as "Putter" Jarvis Day.
