The major move to report of a long time Abilene boutique, and the opening of a new downtown eatery tops our business news.
Just off the corner of North 2nd St. and Pine is Abi-Haus. It will serve new and traditional American food including brunch, lunch, and dinner. You'll also find a full bar featuring with pre-prohibition cocktails. Opening is set for this fall.
Also open downtown is Casa Authentique, what used to be Village Boutique, the expanded store now offers a large upscale furniture and home accessory selection.
A surprising closure on the north side. The Pizza Inn off Judge Ely is no longer open for business.
And a rumor to clear-up: Freebirds is a popular build your own burrito joint. Some word had spread that it would be opening a restaurant here next summer. We contacted Freebirds directly and their PR department says they cannot confirm or deny any plans to open in Abilene at this time. We'll keep in touch and keep you updated.
