People looking to cool down on Saturday got a chance to try out something new.

Children and parents enjoyed the grand opening of the "splash pad" located at Nelson Park.

The "splash pad" has 26 features and can accommodate up to 250 people.

It is open until midnight and is free for anyone. 

The project costs $600,000 and the money was raised by the Together 2011 Initiative.
