The Abilene City Council approved new equipment upgrades for the Fire and Police Department.

The city council approved the third phase of a computer project, which will add 35 new computers in public safety vehicles. The total project includes the addition of 80 computers and the cost will be around $64,000.

The Abilene Fire Department will also receive 40 new sets of personal protective equipment.

This will continue to help out the fire department's goal to upgrade its current inventory of protective clothing.

The total cost will be around $70,000.
