Days are numbered for an abandoned building in east Abilene.

The Abilene City Council approved a bid award to tear down the Sahara Motel located at 1910 East Highway 80.

It's been vacant for years.

The city has gone through the condemnation process, after they said the owner has refused to do anything with it.

The city hopes to eventually recoup some of the cost by placing a lien on the property that the owner would have to repay once the land sells.
