COUPLAND, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas couple is battling to get its construction equipment and family heirlooms back after workers mistakenly emptied their barn rather than their neighbor's foreclosed home.
Mike Moors says the Ohio company whose employees erred hasn't told him where his things are. He discovered his metal barn in Coupland, 25 miles northeast of Austin, had been cleaned out in January when he visited the rural property.
Moor told the Austin American-Statesman that items taken included a 16-foot boat, a backhoe, a cedar chest with his wife's wedding dress and the love letters they exchanged while dating.
Safeguard Properties acknowledges the mistake, which apparently happened when the crew was supposed to ready the neighbor's house for foreclosure in December. They say an insurance company is verifying the couple's claim.
