ABILENE, Texas -

An El Paso man has now been formally charged with robbing the South 1st branch of First Bank Texas on Sept. 27.

Frank Esparza, Sr., 40, is charged with armed robbery. Esparza is an El Paso truck driver.

The U.S. District Attorney alleges Esparza's truck broke down in Abilene on Sept. 25.

Two days later, he contacted one of two juveniles and asked them to find a bank for him to rob.  The federal complaint also said Esparza then entered the First Bank Texas branch about 4:30 p.m., on Sept. 27 and robbed the bank at gunpoint.

Frank Esparza, Jr., 17, is in the Taylor County jail charged with first-degree felony robbery.

He was apparently the teen who cased the bank his father wanted to rob.

A second juvenile, a 16-year-old, is also facing charges for talking part in the robbery.
