POSTED: 12:46 AM Nov 07 2012
Dyess Air Force Base implemented an expansion of a program that offers assistance to military members transitioning out of the military.
The Transition Assistance Program, or TAP, previously only required separating service members to attend counseling. Now military members will attend a 5-day workshop before leaving and are also offered more training and extensive one-on-one counseling.
The expansions came about from the Veterans Opportunity to Work Act of 2011 and the Veterans Employment Initiative.
The expanded program effects the entire Department of Defense.
