About 4 o'clock Monday afternoon Abilene fire crews were called to a grass fire in an alley and creek bed on Westmoreland Street.

They say in all about two acres of heavy brush burned, but no structures were were threatened and there were no injuries.

Lt. Greg Goettsch with the Abilene Fire Department says right now they believe someone shooting off fireworks is the cause of this fire.

They don't have any suspects right now, but want to remind people illegal use of fireworks in the city is a Class C Misdemeanor that carries up to a 500 dollar fine.
