A grass fire on the east side of Lake Fort Phantom Hill threatened homes late Thursday.

The Abilene Fire Department responded to the call just before  11 p.m. Thursday. The flames lit up the night sky on the east side of Lake Fort Phantom Hill near Dixon Road and Foothills Road.

The fire did threaten some homes but was quickly contained. AFD put the fire out in about an hour.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to any of the nearby homes.

Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
