Hazmat crews respond to diesel spill
Abilene Fire Department hazmat crews had to be called to cleanup a diesel spill just before 7 p.m. Thursday night.
The spill was near the intersection of Clack and South 14th. It tied up traffic in that area for about an hour.
Crews estimated the spill was about 50 gallons. They used peet moss to sop it up and believe they got most of it before any ran into a storm drain.
The fire department also notified the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality of the spill.
