ABILENE, Texas -

Holland Medical High School introduced its newest health science program – Registered Dental Assistant – during a kickoff event and open house Friday at the Holland Health Science Building on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University.

"We are excited to introduce this new program as an addition to the strong programs we already offer for students,” said Principal Gail Gregg, who also serves as AISD’s Executive Director of Career and Technical Education.

Guests were able to tour the school’s facilities, which now includes two fully equipped dental operatories with specially designed chairs and stools, lights, air, water syringes and hand instruments.

The new equipment was purchased with funds from an AISD-HSU collaborative grant from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation.

The introduction of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) program adds to the school’s current certification programs in nursing, pharmacy and medical assistant.

Holland students also have the opportunity to take advance science courses such as anatomy and physiology, medical microbiology and pathophysiology.

Holland Med High is beginning its sixth year as a health science magnet school that serves students from Abilene High and Cooper High.
