A house fire in Brownwood has left a family without a home.
The Brownwood Fire Department arrived at the 3400 block of Durham Avenue at 11 a.m. Thursday,.
Assistant Fire Chief Grady Shuey said flames were shooting through the roof upon arrival.
At first, it was not clear whether anyone was inside the home, as there were vehicles in the driveway. However, after an interior search, firefighters discovered no one was in the home at the time.
Shuey said the fire originated in the kitchen.
The home is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
